Overview
The Kitchen Table Collective is a photographic book about life in a shared apartment. At its center is the kitchen table: a place where everyday routines, closeness, conflict, habits, and small rituals come together. It is where people eat, talk, work, wait, argue, and sometimes sit in silence.
Context
The project looks at the shared apartment as a social microcosm. People do not only share rooms, but also time, habits, and responsibility. Strangers become flatmates; friendships turn into temporary family structures.
At the same time, living together always means negotiating between individuality and community, between withdrawal and presence, between order and chaos.
ResearchThe photographs do not show staged scenes, but observed moments from everyday life: traces on the table, meals, objects, body language, absences, and quiet in-between moments. In these small situations, the fragile and vivid nature of shared living becomes visible.
The photo book does not present the shared apartment as a perfect community, but as a real social space. A space where closeness can emerge, distance remains necessary, and living together has to be renegotiated again and again.
